Disrupt Gallery - 145 K'rd
3rd Aug - 6pm
Hannah Jensen is proud to be represented by Disrupt Gallery for her first solo show. This exhibition of contemporary carvings uses an infusion of old school printmaking techniques and designs from new school graff, to create a colourful feast carved from 60 litres of layered acrylic.
Jensen has chosen to work in collaboration with five of Auckland's premier graffiti artists, "I'm not a graff girl, I'm a carver, but what better way to take graff one step further, carving is something you can't just spray over, making a temporary art permanent, setting it in stone or should I say paint".
Using a brush, each board is layered with 10 litres of paint, "by using graff designs it gives me the excuse to be bold with my colour, it wasn't until I traveled through India that I appreciated colour, until then I lived in a monochromatic world, nothing brightens up a place more than colour, even in the hardest of places."
